Today’s edition of “Lester in your lounge” is from the Cloete household in Bothasig, a suburb which was established to accommodate tradesmen and tradeswomen who earned less than R140 a month back in the 1960s, and originally named Bosmansdam after the farm which was located there, and subsequently renamed Bothasig (Botha’s Vision) after P W Botha, then the Minister of Community Development and Coloured Affairs. Lester Kiewit finds out more about the community of Bothasig from Mario Borchards, chairman of the Bothasig Residents Association.
