Kenyan runner Faith Kipyegon has used her failed effort to break the 4-minute mile mark to power her to a world record in the 1500m at the weekend in the Diamond League athletics meeting in Eugene, Oregon. Her fellow Kenyan Beatrice Chebet said she was also inspired by Kipyegon as she went on to smash the women's 5 000m world record with a time of 13min 58.06sec.
