An Audit conducted in California reveals inconsistencies in Cannabis Permitting Processes in Santa Barbara county, Monterey county, as well as the cities of Fresno, Sacramento, San Diego, and South Lake Tahoe. These areas were selected because of their geographical diversity, comparatively large and small populations, a high number of state licenses vs a low number, and a variety of permitting processes. The report states Santa Barbara County had 2,052 active licenses with the unincorporated county population total of 137,900 making the population per state license 67, and a total sales number of almost $16.4 million. In contrast, Monterey County had only 532 licenses with a 107,540 population size garnering $17.7 million in sales. Sacramento had 334 licenses with 525,000 in population that earned $62.8 million. Andrea, this is your second show with us. We're gonna be doing some more news you can use, so, you know, before we get into it, tell me what you've been up to.
How's your day, Ben, very busy today writing a few articles and doing research and making juice.
Of course, the great juice. I had a cup today. It was fantastic, keeping me going, keeping me healthy. We appreciate that here in the office.
I try thank you, of course.
So Andrea and I came up with a little game plan before this show, and we've got some good cannabis news out of California for you. There's an audit that went down through throughout six geographically diverse counties in California or areas in California that pretty much show that the amount of licenses given per area is extremely disproportionate, and it's slightly scary and kind of gives you some indications and assumptions as to what's happening behind the scenes. Andrea, give me your thoughts on you know, some of the some of the data we saw in that article.
I heard back in December that it was easier to get a license in Santa Barbara, for example, So it kind of correlates like the story.
Yeah, definitely, And I'm kind of pulling up the some of the details right here and the audit. So, the audit reviewed six regions, including Santa Barbara and Monterey Counties, as well as the cities of Fresno, Sacramento, and Diego in South Lake Tahoe. These areas were selected because of their geographical diversity and comparatively large and small populations and a high number of state licenses versus a low number and a variety of permitting processes, so they got, you know.
A solid pool of.
Stipulations coming to this audit, which I think the state needed because you know, it can appear to be lopsided when you know, some people will grind the whole time and you know, do everything right, and they still you know, can't be profitable as a business. Whereas you know, then another person may come in out of nowhere and you know, come in the cut and be successful, which more power to them. However, that this process needs regulation, and as of twenty twenty two, the report states that Santa Barbara County had two thousand, fifty two active licenses, with the unincorporated county population total of one thousand one hundred and thirty seven thousand, nine hundred, making the population per state license sixty seven per sixty seven people.
Per license.
For every sixty seven people and a total sales number of almost sixteen point four million. In contrast, Monterey County had only five hundred and thirty two licenses with one hundred and seven thousand, five hundred and forty population size, garnering seventeen point seven million in sales, and Sacramento, which this is a devastating number that they have, which is three hundred and thirty four licenses with a population of five hundred and twenty five thousand that earns sixty two point eight million. That needs to be You need to let that one sit. All the viewers, all you guys listening, Let that one sits five.
Hundred pattern in that it makes no sense.
I you know, I'm not totally sure, and I'm glad this audit's going down for the sake of it, but that's just truly unacceptable, even you know, without reading further into that and taking these statistics out of the very face value that it's unacceptable for a state that you know, takes the you know, the role as the trailblazer in the industry. And as you know, we have the chip on our shoulder with cannabis and you know the fact that we can't even distribute it to you know, the potential rightful owners of cannabis businesses.
You know, I think that's sad.
It's it's certainly important for California to accept full responsibility that they need to be the role model.
And whereas lady Lady Justice and.
This definitely, definitely, you know, I'd love to see where this audit goes. This news you know, I broke this morning.
I believe.
I'd like to see, you know, what comes of it, and hopefully, you know, there's a a just solution to it all because you know, if you even look at the revenue statistics, like it's not proportionate to the amount of licenses that you know they had, Like why is a population with that size and how small the area is. You know, Santa Barbara County is not the biggest county in California.
Like why are you.
You know, oversaturating that market when it doesn't need to be oversaturated And that's you know, part of the problem with our cannabis industry. Whereas you know, there's so much product on the shelves that don't get sold and a whole bunch of companies are going under because of it. So you know, it's definitely you can start to connect the dots with the industry and how it's how it's operating, and you know what it takes to be successful in that. Right now, it's total overhaul. You know, it's it's sad, but you know that those are my thoughts. Do you have any more thoughts on the situation?
Ingrid just like to put in my two cents, but I think it would be a great idea to take the.
Highest percentage for capita and make that discand we're gonna for issuing licenses.
I definitely agree there needs to be some sort of measured.
Stipulation to you know, help get this buy and should you know, I scratch, go back to stack trying situation. Well, that's it for this segment. This has been Canada's Talk quarter one.
When we come back, we're going to talk about something that's near and here to a starting department.

We got some of our lovely staff behind camera right here giving us their lovely smiles. So we're gonna talk about the munchies. Correct, let me pass you back your data and information, So tell me a little bit about how your you're perceiving the munchies and what you can enlighten our audience.
With well I am a wellness consultant with a brain emphasis, and the brain consumes approximately twenty five percent of the nutrients you put into your body. So when you smoke cannabis, the endocannabis stimulates the growth of the axons, which is the extension of the nerves. So the munchies is actually your brain telling you you need some more nutrition to help promote that healthy growth.
Of the neurons.
Definitely, And so can you break down a little bit more on like the technical terms of you know, this whole process of you know, our brain taking twenty five percent of the nutrients and then the axons you said, and how they are transferring.
Can you can you break down.
To our audience a little bit more about all of that because I'm curious myself. I know we talked about it conversationally a little bit before, but I'd.
Like to hear more.
Certainly, a brain cell is like the main cell plump is known as the soma. It's like the collection of the neuron and then it has axons, which is the bridges the neural pathways that connect to other neurons, somatic neurons and the endocannabinoids is any cannabis that's consumed from an external source that has been linked to us stimulate the growth of the axons. So you know, you start getting all these cool ideas when you smoke, and so all of this like new brain activity gives you the mind cheese.
It's literally making hungry, right.
Absolutely, because the brain, you know, it consumes more than any other organ at twenty five percent almost, So you definitely need to put the right stuff in the brain, the right vitamins, minerals, and the the enzymes which catalyze and activate those good things.
Yeah, it's very important, and I'm curious this is kind of a tangent from cannabis.
But I'm wondering if you know, like do certain.
Mental states like add you know, more hunger or do they take away from your hunger? Like can you like, for example, stress, like would stress make me you know, like digress from my appetite or would you know, joy increase my appetite?
You know, Oh yes, absolutely, your emotional state certainly I can increase or decrease. And for some people it's either or the stress either clauses an appetite or takes it away and actually that's very much connected to the gut flora as well, how healthy your gut flora is, as the brain and the stomach are very much intertwined. So if you're not getting the munchies, you know, and you're smoking, maybe like getting some yogurt or like vegan yogurt. I really like the coconut vegan yogurt definitely.
And so.
Upon your extensive research of cannabis and you know, nutrition and diets as as a whole, what would you say, is you know, the ideal munchy for someone like Obviously it's objective because it's preference. However, I know there are certain foods that probably pair pretty well with the experience. For example, I know that or I've read and I don't know if it's totally true that if you eat certain fruits, it like activates the cannabinoids more and you know, you start to feel it. And I know, you know, for example, with psilocybin, if you getting acidic fruit, then it'll you know, break down the psilocybin quicker, and you know, it'll hit a little bit faster. For my understanding, so you know, is there something like a munchy with cannabis that you know.
Is just in the pocket perfect fits like a glove.
Like Jim Carrett, I would because I am a brain specialized, I would actually recommend a munchy that's gonna you know, enhance some benefit the brain. So there are you know, certainly some foods that you can consume that are going to enhance the cannabinoid or the cannabis experience. But I would more so recommend something that's going to be good for the brain. And so the brain really thrives on protein, fats, and minerals. Therefore, I would like my my personal favorite like go to snack is like apples and yogurt definitely.
And then I take a mineral like supplement.
And and actually I found this to be very beneficial.
To actually exploring the help of the sheath of the nerves. And the sheep of the nerves is like the shoelace.
The tip the tip of the shoelace that's the very.
Light tip and the sheep of the nerve and.
As we age like that tends to get going down.
So you know, eating these swoots that are non essidic, because that's also what helps to break down that I look.
That fat that that the sheep so definitely be more like even I did Bilet Mignon. It was really great sort of We.

What's different about his routine.
Well, he is a lot older now and.
He also smokes, does smoke a lot and has you know, multiple cannabis brands, have you he does?
And uh so, Mike Tyson and cannabis kind of varsynonymous.
Now, definitely.
And so now he's preparing for the fight with Jake Paul in Texas and Texas and it is federally legal across the board and for combat sports. The state of Texas adheres to federal regulations when it comes to substances, so the more strict. They're one of the most strict states to fight in. So he's had to give that up. Andrea, have you delved into the article. Can you tell me a little bit more about what's happening.
A little bit here.
Yeah, let's check this out. No rush, So let's see.
They're definitely gonna test him, and there has still been no talk about Mike Tyson giving up marijuana during training.
Got it.
So then it's a bit of a conflict, and you know, he's gonna have to figure out how to get around it if he doesn't want to quit, because they're gonna test him, obviously, and there's ways to get around a drug test.
If you're an athlete, you know I may or may not have done it in the past. Just kidding.
What sports did you play?
I played soccer, and I allegedly.
Right, I passed all my drug tests, so I didn't fail anything, that's for sure.
I was clean as a bean.
You heard it here first. So let's see what's going on with Mike Uh. He only stopped as a means of following all of the rules, but he's still a strong advocate for the medicinal benefits of cannabis for his personal well being and others like him.
Marijuana is on the list.
Of banned substances used by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which regulates combat sports in Texas. A failed drug test results in an automatic ninety days suspension, a fine, and if the winner of the fights tests positive, the outcome changed is changed to no decision, that is fucked up for weed that you should be getting extra money if you win a fight when you're baked.
Are you shitting me? Come on now? I mean and even like, you.
Know, if it's a regular or uh five panel or nine panel drug tests, then you know you only need you know the point three percent THC for it to you know, activate it potentially if you already have cannabinoids in your system. Like, it's super finicky and it's not trustworthy, you know. I just think it's lame that, uh, Mike's gonna have to do it. Dude's a cannabis guy.
Yeah, And it seems that these days a lot of sport athletes performed prefer to perform under the influence of cannabis. I personally worked with David Irving from the Dallas Cowboys nice who was a big advocate to legalize the use of marijuana in the NFL to go hand in hand with the therapy for concussions head trauma.
Yeah, it's just you know, you can see it now like real time on social media, and you have a lot all these ex athletes who have you know, gone through the ringer have got CTE ultimately, and then you can just see their behavior on social media and it's sad because you know they've been The NFL especially has been treated like guinea pigs, like the players with a lot of pharmaceutical drugs over the years. For example, Jim McMahon, who is a close friend of our of our show, Dude's family to us and you know, he's still dealing with the repercussions today with you know, the just over use of all those pharmaceutical drugs that's just absolutely jacked him up, Like you can't. You know, we've heard it way too many times on this show already, where once the pharmaceuticals are out of the picture and it's you know, to cannabis, it's you know, nine times out of ten, it's been.
A greatly beneficial change for them.
Yes, certainly, And you know, little by little, I think, you know, we made progress with NFL. Now they do permit marijuana youth, so hopefully they'll see the same benefits in boxing. But dare I say, I'm from Las Vegas and boxing is not really much of a sport.
Really tell me, tell me, give me your thoughts on this. Nothing's wrong, can't be wrong. Just give me your opinion on boxing.
I would sum it up with the World's of stage.
So, I mean I would have to agree for this fight especially, I mean, I'm sure they've already chalked up the result and how they're passionate out the fucking money, you know what I'm saying, Like, you know, I'm sure they've scripted it to where it's like, Mike You're gonna lay in twelve punches on Jake, and Jake You're.
Gonna lay in twenty four punches on Mike. But then Mike's gonna fucking knock you out like something.
You know, it's like WWE, But it's still both fighters are very much worthy, like they've worked very hard to get where they are totally, so it's definitely still like a very intriguing fight. I did see I Jake Paul fight and I was pretty impressed.
No, he's kind of a monster, objectively speaking.
Absolutely, I'm rooting against him and I'm rooting for Mike Tyson in the spirit of competition. I hope it's not scripted or in any way, shape or form, and I hope Mike Tyson just lays his full out.
That's just how I'm feeling, you know. But who knows.
You know, there's a lot of influence from from money and all that in sports, and you never know it goes down. You only see it. It's thirty years later and it's all in hindsight.
And oh, no one would ever do it again. Yeah, come on me, come on.
Mate, take it all with the green slots for fun.
Definitely.
Yeah, no, I condone passion for sports, but please don't do anything life altering over the love of the game. You know, I think that about sums up our show. You know, we covered all of our topics. We hit the munchies, we hit audits, and we hit Mike Tyson cannabis diets question Mark for.
His run up with Jake Paul.
