From Rugby to Australian Rules Football to Cricket, physiotherapist John Gloster has taken care of hundreds of athletes for the last 22 years. He was responsible for monitoring Sachin’s elbow, Laxman’s back and even Pathan’s groin being a part of the Indian Cricket Team’s staff from 2005-2008. In cricket or life you never want to get beaten. But the game can bite you, and you can get BITTEN. BITTEN by the game OR SMITTEN by its characters, whatever one may choose to call happened to me in my teens. As a kid in a Bengali household I was often the victim of mum’s pathological hatred for the game. ‘Baba porte Bosho’ (get on with your books), she would say, when a generation was being charmed by a man called Sachin Tendulkar, the guile of Shane Warne, Anil Kumble’s grit or Laxman/Dravid’s magnificence... it often felt cruel.... Despite Mum’s million warnings, Cricket did BITE me, but it also taught me to BEAT the odds in life.

As Cricketers try to stay relevant through instagram posts and tweets, how is the cricket economy coping with the virus? A show on how the industry is planning for the game’s future. There is a huge interest in the resumption of this 13 billion dollar economy. A look at the cricket industry through the lenses of the cricketers and the team itself !:

The ICC is creating opportunities for women who love the sport to play an active role in running of the game in their countries and worldwide. In the next episode of Business Called Cricket , Rica Roy speaks to the Chief Mentor of ICC’s all new initiative 100%cricket Future Leader’s Programme to understand where the future of women in cricket lie.

Lisa Sthalekar was the leading all rounder in the world when the ICC rankings for women were introduced. She was the first woman to score 1000 runs and take 100 wickets in ODIS. Today she plies her trade in the commentary box, her voice making an impact. Listen to the former Australian Women’s Captain on the Business Called Cricket 


Lisa Sthalekar was overcome by emotions when last year, in front of a record crowd at the MCG, Australia won the ICC World T20s. She wasn’t just a commentator on that day but a mentor for some of the super girls in the Aussie team. Lisa is open to doing a similar job for Team India too. On the next episode of the Business Called Cricket, Sthalekar speaks about the evolution of Australian and Indian women’s team and the life for them after cricket. She will also be head in the com-box during the IPL.
