Zambians go to the polls with expectations of a stronger economy

Zambians went to the polls on the 13th of August becoming important a critical electoral focal point for the SADC region. It is the only SADC country conducting its national electoral process which would naturally placing it under significant regional and international attention.

 We speak to Kelvin Chisanga, an economist based in Zambia who says that his assessment is that Zambia's challenge is no longer simply to conduct an election, but to demonstrate that democratic governance, political stability and economic transformation can reinforce one another. He spoke to Thami Ngubeni about expectations around the economy and how Zambia managed to maintain their peaceful image for so many years
