Women, young girls face ongoing barriers to employment

View descriptionShare

Continuing on the Quarterly Labour Force Survey which shows an increase in the unemployment rate, this time around we speak to Talita Boodhram, Co-Founder and Chief Impact Officer for MiDesk Global.

She's pointing out that the results indicate that women and young girls remain vulnerable in terms of being able to support themselves and their families by securing job opportunities. She goes on to say that she believes that the ongoing sidelining of girls and young women in the job market is a direct result of the education infrastructure gap for disadvantaged children in early childhood.

To mark International Youth Day, Ms Boodhram shared her thoughts with Thami Ngubeni.
