Waste Management could cost more than 640- billion dollars annually in 2050

View descriptionShare

Solid waste generation is predicted to grow from 2.1 billion tonnes to 3.8 billion tonnes between 2023 and 2050 with a cost of around 361 billion US dollars.

However, without urgent waste management action by 2050 the annual cost globally could double to over 640- billion dollars.

With Africa's population growth considered to be the largest globally, it is imperative to convert rubbish into resource.

Thami Ngubeni spoke to Kate Stubbs, Marketing Director at Interwaste.
