Umeme heads to London for arbitration over a dispute on the final buyout amount by the Ugandan government

Energy distributor, Umeme Limited's claim against the Government of Uganda has increased to approximately USD 292 million, intensifying the long-running dispute over the final buyout amount. This is the company seeking arbitration in London as provided for under the Concession Agreements. Meanwhile, the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) has extended the suspension of Umeme's trading counter until June 12, 2025, citing the unresolved dispute and its impact on investor confidence.
