Zimbabwe is hosting a conference of creditors and finance executives to discuss the country's goals to clear debt arrears and restructure 12-point-7 billion US dollars in external debt. The Southern African country's debt accounts for 81 per cent of the gross domestic product, and clearing it will be a tough challenge for a country that has faced numerous financial crises in recent decades, from repeated hyperinflation to multiple unsuccessful attempts to launch a new currency. Zimbabwe seeks ways to  clear debt arrears and restructure 12-point-7 billion US dollars in external debt

The COP29 Climate Summit in Baku concluded with a contentious deal aimed at addressing global climate challenges. Delegates agreed on a $300 billion annual funding target by 2035, tripling the previous commitment to support developing nations in mitigating climate impacts and transitioning to cleaner energy. However, this figure, part of the New Collective Quantified Goal, drew sharp criticism from leaders of vulnerable nations, calling it insufficient to tackle worsening climate crises. The African Development Bank (AfDB)  is celebrating is Diamond Jubilee this year. The bank is marking 60 years of driving social and economic transformation across the African continent. The Southern African regional celebration, was recently held in Johannesburg, South Africa, and it brought together leaders, stakeholders, and partners to reflect on the institution's journey and its vision.  Leila Farah Mokaddem, Director General of the African Development Bank Group,highlighted the Bank's legacy of impact and transformation.
