The South African Informal Traders Alliance (SAITA), says they would have appreciated more involvement of the informal business sector at the recently held 15th BRICS Summit in Sandton, north of Johannesburg.

President of SAITA Rosheda Muller maintains that as significant drivers of national economies, the BRICS initiative ought to work more with informal traders.

Statistics South Africa has fallen victim to a ransomware attack by the emerging cybercrime group known as XP95. The threat actors claim to have successfully breached the agency responsible for conducting South Africa's census, as well as producing and disseminating other official statistics, like the Consumer Price Index. This cyber attack, it's said to have come at a time when ransomware attacks are escalating globally, reflecting a sharp rise in the frequency and sophistication of cybercrime.
