South Africa and Kenya are set to reaffirm their bilateral ties this week as Kenyan President William Ruto visits Pretoria for talks with President Cyril Ramaphosa. The visit follows speculation about the state of relations between the two countries after Ruto missed a recent G20 meeting hosted by South Africa, and also with Ramaphosa not attending the Africa-France Summit in Kenya. Despite the questions raised by their respective absences, both governments maintain that their longstanding diplomatic and economic partnership remains strong. Kenya Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura says Kenya and South Africa must strengthen their economic and political influence on the continent.
