Türkiye hosted the first round of Somalia-Ethiopia peace talks aimed at resolving a dispute sparked by a deal between Ethiopia and Somalia's breakaway region of Somaliland. The talks follow the Ankara Declaration, an agreement brokered by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which sets forth a vision for fostering regional stability and economic cooperation amid tensions between the two nations. Ankara has been mediating between Addis Ababa and Mogadishu due to concerns about potential conflict in an already volatile region.
