South Africa’s Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, earlier tabled his 2026/27 Budget against a more favourable backdrop, with public finances reaching a turning point and stabilising for the first time in 17 years.


Addressing Parliament, Minister Godongwana said the National Treasury is making headway in narrowing the budget deficit to 4.5% of GDP for the 2025/26 financial year. Innocent Semosa spoke to Anri Brink, Investment Analyst at Absa.
