South Africa's Film industry raises concerns over  backlog in payments under the South African Film and Television Production Incentive

View descriptionShare

South Africa's Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) has told Parliament that it is seeking urgent interim funding to address a growing backlog in payments under the South African Film and Television Production Incentive. The move follows protests by industry players, who have raised concerns about the department's management of the scheme. The Save SA Films Jobs Coalition says the paralysis in the incentive programme has severely crippled the local film sector, putting jobs and productions at risk.
