South Africa's Department of Agriculture continues to vaccinate the national herd as countries suspend livestock imports following the FMD outbreak

Zambia's Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has suspended all livestock import permits from South Africa, following the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). This, as South Africa continues to grapple with a severe Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak that has been declared a National Disaster by the country's President Cyril Ramaphosa. The outbreak has devastated the livestock industry, leading to immediate trade bans from countries like China, Namibia, Botswana and now Zambia. Thami Ngubeni spoke to Moses Rannditsheni, the Director of Media and External Communication at the Department of Agriculture
