South Africa’s Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Dion George, has called on African governments to ensure that revenues from carbon markets directly benefit local communities, particularly those still lacking access to basic energy.
Speaking at the 2025 Carbon Market Africa Summit underway in Johannesburg, South Africa, the minister also outlined the country’s draft carbon market framework and credit revenue plan. Channel Africa’s economics reporter, Innocent Semosa, has more.
