South Africa’s Minister of Electricity and Energy, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, announced over the weekend that Cabinet has approved the revised Integrated Resource Plan, which will see approximately $127 billion invested in energy infrastructure by 2042.
The new energy policy blueprint indicates that nuclear and gas will account for 16% of total generation capacity over the next 14 years, up from the current 3%, while dependence on coal is set to decline.
