Data storage and services group, Africa Data Centres, in partnership with independent power producer DPA SA, has initiated the construction of a solar farm in South Africa to fuel its facilities with renewable energy.
This move comes as a response to the surging demand for faster computing in Africa's banking and telecom sectors, which has led to a rapid expansion in the data centre market. The initial phase involves building a 12 megawatt solar farm in the Free State province to power the Cape Town data centres.
