SA's trade union, COSATU to decide whether or not to back the ANC in the upcoming polls

View descriptionShare

South Africa's National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has officially resolved to throw its weight behind the South African Communist Party (SACP) in the upcoming elections. This marks a significant shift, as the union has consistently supported the African National Congress (ANC) since the dawn of democracy. COSATU First Deputy President Mike Shingange emphasized that while the alliance remains strategically important, discussions are still ongoing within COSATU about whether or not to back the ANC in the upcoming polls.
