Safety Concerns Spark Travel Cancellations Across Africa

View descriptionShare

South Africa's tourism sector is facing fresh pressure after reports emerged that travellers from several African countries are cancelling trips in response to recent anti-migrant protests and attacks targeting foreign nationals. The development threatens to tarnish the reputation of one of Africa's most celebrated tourism destinations. Just last year, the World Travel Awards named Cape Town as Africa's Leading City Destination, while Durban and Johannesburg also ranked among the continent's top tourism hubs. For more on the impact of this to the tourism sector, Thami Ngubeni spoke to Pan-Africa Tourism Board COO, Medylaine Muturiki..
