South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has called inequality the “greatest threat to human progress” as he unveiled the formation of an International Panel on Inequality.
The initiative follows the first global inequality report by a group of independent experts led by Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, commissioned during South Africa’s 2025 G20 presidency. The platform’s objective is to track progress and drive global coordination in tackling inequality.
