SA National Liquor Traders Council pushes back against the proposed increases to the excise tax on alcoholic beverages

The South African National Liquor Traders Council has accused the government of penalising the alcohol industry for its failure to fight crime in the country. This was after the country's National Treasury announced its intention to increase the excise tax on alcoholic beverages. Public comment on the proposed changes to alcohol taxation policies has been extended from the 13th of this month to the 14th of February next year. Thami Ngubeni spoke to the National Convener of the South African National Liquor Traders Council, Lucky Ntimane.
