South Africa's (SA) consumers are once again feeling the pressure at the pumps, as inflation accelerated sharply in April. Headline consumer inflation rose to 4% from 3.1% in March, driven largely by a record surge in fuel prices.
Statistics SA says fuel costs recorded their steepest monthly increase since the current CPI series began in 2008, with petrol and diesel prices climbing sharply.
