The World Health Organisation (WHO) says the world is significantly behind in making progress towards achieving universal health coverage by 2030. According to the organisation, improvements in health services coverage have stagnated since 2015.
Meanwhile, Profmed CEO Craig Comrie argues that the dream of universal healthcare in South Africa should not depend solely on the fate of a single policy, the National Health Insurance (NHI). He maintains that the country needs healthcare reforms grounded in economic reality and constitutional responsibility.
