South Africa's National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA), says it is concerned about the announcement made by tyre company Goodyear, that intends to discontinue its manufacturing operations in the Nelson Mandela Bay manufacturing plant, in South Africa. The union says about 907 employees will be affected by the plant's closure and that it will leave Uitenhage, in the Eastern Cape province as a ghost town, following the closure of ContiTech, which is part of Continental.
