A South African owned e-hailing app, Shesha has been launched in the country and will start operating on the first of May. It is a collaboration between the minibus taxi industry and e-Hailing operators. Shesha is set to bring about competition to already existing international giants such as Uber and Bolt. Manufacturing production in South Africa (SA) decreased by 2,8% in February compared with February 2025.

The largest negative contributions were made by the following divisions food and beverages  by - 4,5% and contributing -1,1 percentage points; While wood and wood products, paper, publishing and printing  by  -9,7% and contributing - 1,0 percentage point) with basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery by - 3,6% and contributing -0,8 of a percentage point.

Standard Bank partners with Clover, MPO to combat FMD in SA

 The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has started nationwide circulation of newly designed ZiG banknotes, marking a key step in Zimbabwe's ongoing currency reform efforts.

The central bank says the new ZWG notes, branded the "Big Five" series, feature improved durability, enhanced security elements, and wildlife imagery aimed at strengthening national identity. However, the rollout comes at a time when public confidence in the local currency remains fragile, with the US dollar continuing to dominate everyday transactions, particularly within informal markets.
