Dr. Nkechi Owoo from the University of Ghana says that in both South Africa and Ghana, a significant portion of the workforce, particularly women, remains in the informal sector, where labour protections, benefits, and job security are limited or absent.
She made these remarks during the presentation of a joint Ghana-South Africa research project titled "Gendered Aspects of Economic Security", currently underway at Stellenbosch Business School, where key policy recommendations are also being shared.
