Malawi's Reserve Bank orders TNC to pay employees pensions

View descriptionShare

The Reserve Bank of Malawi has ordered the Telekom Networks of Malawi (TNC) to pay 63 former employees their pensions. The employees who were working for the company's call centre were not part of the pension fund scheme as they were on a fixed-term contract.

However, the Communication Workers Union of Malawi (COWUMA) says employees with fixed-term contracts are not exempted from complying with the Pension Act of 2023.

For more on this Thami Ngubeni spoke to Hamilton Delezah, the General Secretary of the Communication Workers Union of Malawi.
