Hunger and undernourishment are on the rise in Africa

Levels of hunger are dropping around the world after declining for the third consecutive year in 2024, but in Africa, the picture is different. The African continent is treading behind, and instead, hunger and undernourishment are on the rise on the continent, says a UN report on the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World. Despite this decline, a staggering 2.6 billion people in the world lacked adequate food in 2024, and this could lead to political instability if not addressed promptly.
