Ethiopian Airlines announced the immediate suspension of ticket issuance in Malawi, effective November 7, 2024. This suspension which has been attributed to Malawi's acute foreign exchange shortage, will impact travel plans for passengers intending to fly with the airline. Malawi's tourist industry is vital to the overall economy of the country and supports huge numbers of local Malawians through employment and community projects, as well as helping conserve the country's natural riches, but with the festive season approaching the suspension will likely put a dent on tourism in this bumper festive season.  Thami Ngubeni spoke to Kingsley Jassi, Senior Business and Economic Analyst with Times Group Malawi
