South Africa's unemployment rate has declined to 31.9 percent in the last three months of 2024 from 32.1 percent in the previous quarter, according to the latest Labour Force Quarterly Survey. The improvement in the country's jobless rate comes after 132,000 people secured employment in the last quarter of 2024. However, the expanded definition of unemployment, which includes discouraged work seekers, remained unchanged at 42 percent.
