Countries forming the East African Community (EAC) bloc have been urged to negotiate trade agreements with third parties as a bloc to improve negotiation leverage. The East African Business Council (EABC) Acting Executive Director Adrian Raphael Njau says the main purpose behind this move is to ensure that the EAC Common External Tariff (CET) is uniformly implemented by all EAC Partner States and the coordinated EAC strategy in external trade would foster trust among Partner States, reinforce a common trade policy.
