The Nile Basin Cooperative Framework Agreement (CFA) has come into force despite rejections by Egypt and Sudan.
The agreement has been signed by Ethiopia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed called on non-signatory states to join the effort, referring it as the Nile family.
