The Cross-border Traders Association of Malawi says Tanzania's move to introduce a mandatory travel insurance of $44 upon entry is a trade barrier to cross-border traders.
This new requirement applies to all international visitors regardless of the purpose of travel, including tourists and business travellers. Malawi and other COMESA member states have since demanded talks with the government of Tanzania.
