China is calling on BRICS nations to strengthen cooperation on strategic mineral resources. Speaking at the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting currently underway in New Delhi, India, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged member states to deepen collaboration on minerals, energy security and emerging technologies.

With Africa at the centre of global critical mineral supply chains, questions are being raised about the opportunities and risks this growing BRICS cooperation could present for the continent’s resource-rich economies.
