Despite significant contributions, women in agriculture face systemic barriers such as limited land ownership, unequal access to education and training, restricted financial services, and discriminatory social norms, all of which hinder their economic potential and decision-making power.

To address some of these issues Corteva Agriscience Africa Middle East together with the Gordon Institute of Business Studies (Gibs) started a program to equip women with the skills and tools to enhance their agricultural practices and business acumen.

Our reporter Dimakatso Leshoro spoke to Betty Kiplagat, Industry and Government Affairs Leader at Corteva about how the program benefits rural women involved in agriculture.

Zimbabwe has announced plans to compensate local and foreign white farmers who lost land and property during the country's controversial land reform program over 20 years ago.

The land seizures, launched by the late former president Robert Mugabe in the year 2000, aimed to address colonial-era land injustices but often resulted in violence.

The compensation plan, unveiled by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, includes cash payments and treasury bonds for affected farmers.
