In Uganda, food prices of basic commodities have risen sharply over the past few months. The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has attributed the increase to the recent extreme weather patterns. The rising food prices have put a strain on local households, forcing adjustments in spending habits, and forcing Ugandans to seek cheaper food alternatives, like maize flour and rice, which are less affected by price hikes.
