The Minerals Council of South Africa has raised concerns over the government's approval of an export tax on ferrochrome concentrates. This is not the first time that the South African government has approved such a tax. Meanwhile, independent policy researcher Kevin Tutani says South Africa can leverage its chrome for comprehensive national benefit by lobbying for a universal chrome ore tax on exports, as there are fewer countries that have the capacity to export chrome.
