More than five African countries have been invited to participate in the 8th cycle of the Urban-20 (U20) in Johannesburg, South Africa, a global initiative shaping urban priorities for the G20. For the first time, African cities are co-chairing the U20, with Johannesburg and Tshwane leading the way.
Speaking at the launch, the Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Dr Nasiphi Moya, emphasised the urgent need for greater investment in infrastructure, green energy, and economic transformation.
Under the theme 'Cities Leading the Way in Reimagining Global Change,' the event focused on how cities can address climate change, economic inequality, and social inclusion, ensuring that Africa's urban challenges and solutions take centre stage on the global agenda.
