The Johannesburg Art Gallery (JAG) situated in South Africa's Gauteng Province has been plagued by theft of artworks displayed. The Art Gallery which is the largest in Africa has an extensive collection of traditional and contemporary South African and international art from the 16th century to the present. Friends of the JAG say unless a good governance structure is put in place the city could see Africa's most valuable art collection which was once worth hundreds of millions of dollars being destroyed.
