Africa holds most of the world's uncultivated arable land, but remains a net food importer, with imports standing at over $40 billion annually. ABSA Bank says the continent must move beyond donor dependency and mobilise capital for climate-smart agriculture. And also emulate successful models, like Kenya's tea cooperatives, Ivory Coast's cashew strategy, and South Africa's use of genetically modified (GM) crops.
