The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has called on Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to reject the recently approved $1.08 billion World Bank loan.
The World Bank approved the loan for Nigeria last week to enhance education quality, build household and community resilience, and improve nutrition for underserved groups.
Olúwádàre Kóláwolé, Deputy Director at the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, stated that President Tinubu should instead instruct the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, to promptly investigate allegations that over $1.5 billion of public funds have gone missing, been diverted, or remain unaccounted for.
