Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano, a twice-deported illegal immigrant, is set to be released early from prison after serving only three and a half years of his 10-year sentence for killing two California teens in a high-speed DUI crash in 2021. The crash, which occurred at around 100 mph, resulted in the deaths of Anya Varfolomeev and Nicholay Osokin. Families of the victims are outraged by the early release, calling it "disgusting". The U.S. Department of Justice has intervened, filing a felony immigration charge against Ortega-Anguiano.
