Fresno's transportation tax battle intensified Thursday as Supervisors Garry Bredefeld and Buddy Mendes held a press conference opposing AB 1923, the state bill that would force the Better Roads, Safe Streets initiative onto the November ballot. Supporters call it voter protection; opponents say Sacramento is overriding local control and the Board's authority to review the measure before voters decide.
