PROP 50 LOSS: Assemblyman David Tangipa (R-Clovis)

View descriptionShare

INTERVIEW: Assemblyman David Tangipa (R-Clovis) calls to discuss the federal three‑judge panel that ruled that California can move forward with its new, voter‑approved U.S. House map for the 2026 election, rejecting attempts by Tangipa (plaintiff) state Republicans and the U.S. Justice Department to block it. The court’s 2–1 decision allows the state to implement district lines designed to give Democrats a stronger chance at flipping several congressional seats next year. Opponents argued the map relied too heavily on race to boost Hispanic representation, but judges found no constitutional violation. Tangipa says he's now asking the Supreme Court to look at the case.
