California’s high‑speed rail project is finally nearing the long‑awaited phase of laying track, with officials confirming that procurement and staging are underway as construction accelerates across the Central Valley. At the same time, lawmakers are advancing Assembly Bill 1608, which would allow the project’s Inspector General to withhold certain sensitive communications and records.
