Newsom described mass immigration raids and military presence in Los Angeles as a direct assault on democratic norms and civil liberties. He warned that “other states are next” and urged Americans to resist complicity through silence. Emphasizing that “the most important office in a democracy is citizen,” Newsom called for civic engagement to defend constitutional rights and oppose what he termed a dangerous erosion of American democracy.
