INTERVIEW: Fresno Teachers Association President Manuel Bonilla gives an update on Fresno Unified retirees disrupted healthcare access. The district’s Joint Health Management Board has approved anew option allowing retirees to enroll in traditional Medicare with a district‑provided PPO supplemental plan, beginning January 1, 2027.This comes after more than6,000 retirees lost in‑network coverage on January 1 due to a contract breakdown between Aetna and Community Medical Centers. Community Medical Centers says retirees can now make appointments but appointments are still out of network.
