A Fresno family was awarded $800,000 in damages after sheriff's deputies shot and killed their beloved dog, Scooby. The incident occurred in June 2018 when deputies entered the family's home without a warrant, handcuffed them, and fatally shot the dog. The family’s lawyer estimates that legal fees and other costs could push the total expense for Fresno County to nearly $2 million.
