A New York Times investigation published details allegations that labor icon Cesar Chavez sexually abused women and girls over decades while leading the farmworker movement. The report includes accounts from multiple women, including longtime union leader Dolores Huerta, who alleges she was raped by Chavez in the 1960s and became pregnant twice. Two other women told the Times they were sexually abused as minors. Chavez died in 1993; the allegations have prompted canceled events and renewed debate over his public legacy.
